Water has no need for agriculture, but without water…no farming, no food. Protos is active in a number of countries to improve the access to and the management of water for agricultural purposes. Interventions in this area always include local farmer organisations and local authorities and can vary from small-scale operations with a simple, low-cost infrastructure, to complex large-scale (irrigation) programmes. Integrated Water Resources Management and sustainable organic farming are the key concepts for all Protos activities in this sector. More than ever, global warming has made this approach a necessity.
